Louis Vuitton Secret Places: Paris - Day 1 - Asnières-sur-Seine

All the fairy tales begin with the traditional “Once upon a time…”, in a remote and unknown place and lost in time. But when the dream meets the reality, it can occasionally happen that the fantasy becomes so palpable to make you the protagonist. And the mists of time turn into delightfully present fragrances, flavours and human warmth.

The story of our incredible journey started in Asnières-sur-Seine, not far from Paris, where the genius Louis Vuitton established his atelier in 1859 and built his own house in 1870. It is a building in liberty style, with racemes that arise indoor and on the furniture in the form of leaves and buds. With visually embroidered walls and glass windows, the final result is a highly stylized adornment able to recall Japanese stilemi, which probably inspired the famous floral pattern of Vuitton’s monogram, as well as nineteenth-century painters such as Van Gogh and Gauguin. And exactly in this surreal dimension I had the huge privilege to blow out the candles on my twenty-fifth anniversary birthday cake. Can you believe it? Just sitting there, drinking tea, where five generations of the Vuitton family have been creating a luxury empire. But everything can happen in the place where each day skilled craftsmen shape the objects of desire of many travellers, producing iconic models of bags and trunks, or satisfying the extravagant requests of more demanding clients. Which is Louis Vuitton final aim? To protect and transport the things you love. To always make you feel at home. Everywhere you go.
